Urgent Care FAQs
What Is Considered To Be An Urgent Care Visit At Wake Forest Animal Hospital?
If you have an immediate health concern relating to possible ear infection, eye discharge, skin irritation, lethargy, lameness, minor wounds, etc., or any other health concern that is not a life-threatening emergency for your pet—it’s to be considered an urgent care visit. We purposely allocate urgent care appointments in the mornings and afternoons to accommodate urgent concerns on the same day. When in doubt, please call our hospital, and one of our Registered Veterinary technicians will guide you through the process.
What's The Difference Between An Urgent Care Visit And An Office Hours Emergency?
Urgent care is when your pet’s condition is not life-threatening, but medical care is needed. Office Hours Emergencies are life-threatening and need immediate medical care for survival. Some of the conditions are hit by a car, difficulty breathing, unable to urinate, excessive bleeding, abdominal bloating, etc. If you think your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call our office immediately.
What If My Pet Needs To Be Hospitalized Or Needs Surgical Care During The Urgent Care Visit?
The doctor will discuss all the options with you and how to proceed. In some cases, a specialty surgery or 24-hour monitoring facility might be needed, so the patient will need to be transferred to a specialty hospital.
Can My Pet Be Dropped Off As An Option?
